Footlight Players are proud to present our 2026 recipient for the Robert W. Komendera Performing Arts Scholarship to Eleanor Crane. This $1000 scholarship is given with the desire to encourage young adults to pursue their performing arts education.
Eleanor graduated from Marquette Catholic High School and is officially headed to Saint Mary’s College this fall to pursue her passion for Theatre.
Eleanor’s high school career has been a masterclass in dedication and service. She is graduating Summa Cum Laude (all four years!), performed in 9 shows with Marquette (as well as others with surrounding community theatres), served as the President of the International Thespian Society, was a member of the Marquette Singers, Quiz Bowl team, Academic Super Bowl teams and was a recipient of the Presidential Service Award. Academically, she has already been recognized by Saint Mary’s with the prestigious Madeleva Award, and her musical talents earned her multiple scholarships through Monday Musicale as well as many ISSMA medals over her four years.
When she wasn't performing on stage, Eleanor ran for both the cross country and track and field teams until an injury to her knee led her to cheer them on from the sidelines. Her senior year she was Manager for both teams.
This $1,000 scholarship is named in memory of Bobby Komendera who passed in November of 2023. He is well remembered for his over 35 years of dedication to the Footlight Players community theater in Michigan City, Indiana.
