The Footnotes began back in December of 1998, when a Footlight Players member approached the board of directors and asked if we could form a singing ensemble. The Footnotes, as the choir called themselves, was fortunate enough to retain the musical skills of Alexis Bratsakis. Under her direction, the group really began to flourish. They learned a large and varied selection of challenging vocal arrangements chosen from contemporary American musical theatre, like JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM, SWEET CHARITY and CHICAGO. After numerous rehearsals the group decided to put on a concert at Footlight theatre, called THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT. They were scared, and not sure who'd want to come and hear them, let alone pay money to do so! They had not formed the choir to actually perform-just to meet, sing and enjoy the learning process. After realizing that they actually had a nice sound, they gained some confidence and some more performance dates. The group has been Invited to sing at many functions in and around Michigan City, and Northwest Indiana and were guest artists with the LaPorte Symphony Orchestra In the spring of 2001. The group has also appeared for the last several years for Dowagiac, Michigan’s Christmas Festival. and caroling at the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets.

BOOKINGS:The group is available for private engagements ranging in length from 15 minutes to 1 hour or more. For more information please contact choir director, Robert Komendera at 219-879-5840.
